Turkey - Istanbul & ANZAC Cove

High on my Bucket List was a visit to ANZAC Cove to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their respective countries.

The high cliffs facing those who landed on those pebbled beaches were virtually impenetrable and the daunting dread of warfare is now reflected in tributes to the fallen.

My journey began in Instanbul where the senses are excited by the colours and aromas of the many spice markets scattered throughout the bustling city.

The sounds of the markets rings in one's ears as buyers and sellers negotiate with vigor

Exotic spices, rich fabrics, cookware, silverware ....

All this activity generates a hearty appetite for local food ...

Seafood,  fresh vegetables and pulses

Time for a refreshing local beer

Iconic replica of the Trojan Horse, Istanbul skyline and local crafts

Healthy breakfast on the balcony prior to setting off to discover more Turkish charm

More images of food in every form...

Our guide introduced us to a friendly local grandmother busy baking bread in a stone oven.  We all enjoyed breaking off a crusty handful and drizzling with rich green olive oil for added flavour.  Memorable indeed ....

Baking traditional Turkish Flat Bread (Bazlama)

Dinner at a local restaurant renowned for featuring traditional meals and cooking methods

Spice Markets

Final memories of my colourful culinary journey from Istanbul to ANZAC Cove
