My 8 day India Golden Triangle journey featured the iconic Taj Mahal at sunrise amongst other stunning locations and of course an introduction to the cuisine of India.
Delhi Airport is a statement in itself.
Our morning tour visits Qutab Minar, a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture.
A walk through the busy streets of Chandni Chowk to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India.
Food stalls are prolific and loaded up with fresh produce
Our tour arrives in Agra and it's time to go back up in a balloon for sunset views - only this time the balloon is attached by very long ropes to the ground. In other words it goes straight up, elevates for a while and straight down again. It's very different!!
Today we're both very excited to witness the surreal views of the Taj Mahal by sunrise. The Taj Mahal is an extravagant display of love, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Time for lunch
Time to wander and check out the food, the people and enjoy the vibrant colours of this amazing country. What better way to transit than a trishaw!
We're hungry for some local cuisine
Palace of Raja Man Singh - as the sign says
A visit to the Amber Fort built in the 16th century is accessible by elephant ride and provides an authentic means of transport especially if you're persuaded to purchase a souvenir head dress.
Additional exploring uncovered a lonely camel. No rides this time.
The catering on our journey was second to none.
Plus I celebrated my birthday in India so Flavia and the hotel staff provided a lovely surprise in our room using hand towels to spell out Happy Birthday.
